Bedtime is tender, and so is the information you trust us with about your family. We keep what we collect small, we use it only to make the stories, and we never sell it. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what we collect, why, who helps us process it, how long we keep it, and how you stay in control.

1Who we are
Seed & Slumber ("we," "us," "our") is the legal entity that operates this service, based in the State of Ohio, USA. We are the party responsible for the information described here. You can reach us any time at hello@seedandslumber.com.
2What we collect
We collect only what we need to run a nightly bedtime-story subscription for your family:
- Your account details: your email address (this is how you sign in, since we use passwordless magic links), and basic account status.
- Your children's details, which you provide: for each child, a first name or nickname (and an optional nickname pronunciation), an approximate age expressed as a rough age in months (not a birthdate), gender, and reading progress. See section 3.
- Subscription and billing details: your plan, billing cadence, and subscription status. Your payment card is collected and stored by our payment processor, Stripe, not by us. We receive limited billing information from Stripe (for example, that a payment succeeded), not your full card number.
- Usage and delivery information: which nights were read or played, and technical logs needed to deliver email and keep the service running and secure.
We do not ask for a home address, and we do not need a child's birthdate, photo, voice, or precise location. We do not knowingly collect more than what is listed here.
3Children's information
The account holder is always a parent or guardian (an adult). Children do not create accounts, do not sign in, and are not the customer. You, the parent or guardian, provide a small amount of information about your child so we can make your child the hero of the bedtime story.
For each child you set up, we store: a first name or nickname, an optional pronunciation note, an approximate age in months (a rough number, no birthdate), gender, and reading progress. We use this only to personalize the stories and the nightly email that goes to you, the parent. We do not build advertising profiles of children, we do not show children advertising, the child never interacts with the service directly, and we never sell this information. You can view, edit, or delete any child at any time, or delete your whole account, and doing so removes that child's information from the active service (see sections 9 and 10).
4Why we use it

We do not use your family's information to train advertising systems, and we do not use it to build or train a general-purpose AI model.
5Consent and legal basis
You provide your child's information as their parent or guardian, and by doing so you consent to our using it to personalize the stories as described here. For the rest, we process information to provide the service you asked for (to perform our contract with you), to meet legal obligations, and for our legitimate interest in running and securing the service. Where the law that applies to you requires a specific legal basis or a specific consent, we honor it.
6Who helps us (subprocessors)
We do not run everything ourselves. A small number of trusted providers process limited information on our behalf so the service can work. We aim to be honest about exactly who they are:

These providers act on our instructions and are not permitted to use your family's information for their own purposes. Each provider also has its own privacy practices for the part of the service it handles. We keep this list current as providers change.
7Cookies and analytics
We keep this light. We use the small amount of local browser storage needed to keep you signed in and to run the app (for example, a session token). At the time of writing we do not run third-party advertising trackers, and we do not sell or share your information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If we ever add analytics, we will update this section and, where required, ask for your consent first.
8When we share information
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only: with the subprocessors above so the service can work; when you ask us to; to comply with the law or a valid legal request; to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service; or as part of a business transfer (such as a merger or acquisition), in which case we will require the successor to honor this policy or notify you.
9How long we keep it
We keep your account and your children's information while your account is active so we can provide the service. When you delete a child, we remove that child's personalization details from the active service. When you delete your account (or ask us to), we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable time, except for the limited records we must keep for legal, tax, accounting, security, or fraud-prevention reasons (for example, a record that a payment occurred). Backups and provider logs age out on their own normal schedules.
10Your rights and controls
You are in control of your family's information:
- Access and edit: view and change your children's details on each child's page in the app, and update your account from the account page.
- Delete a child: remove a child at any time from the app.
- Delete your account: ask us to delete your account and personal information by emailing hello@seedandslumber.com, or use the in-app control where available.
- Cancel billing: manage or cancel your subscription any time from the account page (see the Refund & Cancellation Policy).
- Emails: the nightly story email is the core of the service, but you can pause or cancel any time, and account emails include the ways to reach us.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as to a copy of your data, to correction, to deletion, or to object to certain processing). To exercise any right, email us at hello@seedandslumber.com and we will respond as the law requires. We will not charge you or reduce your service for exercising a privacy right.
11How we protect it
We use reputable providers, encrypt data in transit, keep what we collect small, and use passwordless sign-in so there is no password to steal. One-time sign-in links are removed from the browser address after use. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your family's information and to notify you if the law requires it after a breach.
12A note on COPPA
Seed & Slumber is directed to parents and guardians, not to children. Children do not sign in and do not interact with the service. The limited information about a child is provided by the parent or guardian, on the child's behalf, only to personalize the parent's bedtime story. We designed the product with the spirit of the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in mind: we collect the minimum, we use it only for the story, we do not advertise to children, and we do not sell it. We do not claim any COPPA certification. If you believe a child's information has reached us in a way you did not intend, email hello@seedandslumber.com and we will address it promptly.
13Changes to this policy
As the service grows or the law changes, we may update this policy. When we make a material change, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, tell you by email or a notice on the site.

A note on this draft. This document is a good-faith starting point, not legal advice. Children's privacy rules are especially important to get right. The owner should have a qualified attorney review and finalize it, confirm the subprocessor list is accurate and current, and set the effective date to the launch date, before Seed & Slumber relies on it with real customers.
