Draft pending legal review, dated August 24, 2026. This page is a good-faith starting point written by the Seed & Slumber team, not by a lawyer. It has not yet been reviewed by an attorney. The plain-language agreement

Terms of Service

Effective date: August 24, 2026 (draft date; will be updated to the actual launch date at go-live)  ·  Last updated: August 24, 2026

Seed & Slumber is a subscription that sends one short, personalized Christian bedtime story to a parent each night. These terms explain how the service works, how billing and cancellation work, and the rules for using it. We have tried to keep it plain. Where the law needs specific language, we have kept that too.

1Who we are

Seed & Slumber ("Seed & Slumber," "we," "us," or "our") is the legal entity that operates this service and is based in the State of Ohio, USA. You can reach us any time at hello@seedandslumber.com. By creating an account, starting a free trial, or otherwise using the service, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy.

2Who can use it

The account holder must be an adult (at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live) and a parent or legal guardian of the child or children you set up in the service. The service is directed to parents and guardians. Children do not create accounts, do not sign in, and are not the customer. You provide a child's information yourself, on their behalf, so we can personalize the bedtime story. See section 9 and our Privacy Policy for details on how children's information is handled.

3Your account and sign-in

We use passwordless sign-in. Instead of a password, we email you a one-time magic link. Anyone with access to your email inbox can sign in to your account, so please keep your email account secure. You are responsible for the activity that happens under your account. Tell us at hello@seedandslumber.com if you think someone else has gained access to your account.

4What the service is

Seed & Slumber emails a short, personalized bedtime story to the parent each night and saves it in a parent-facing web library (the "Parent Library"). Depending on your plan, stories may include narrated audio. The service is designed to be screen-free for the child: the parent reads the story aloud or plays the audio, and the child does not need to hold or look at a device.

We may add, change, or remove features over time. Our aim is always to keep or improve the value of what you signed up for. If we make a change that we think meaningfully reduces the core service, we will tell you.

5Free trial

New subscribers get a 7-night free trial. We collect a payment method when you start the trial, but we do not charge you during the trial. We will email you before the trial ends so you are not surprised. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription begins and your payment method is charged for the plan you chose (see section 6). You can cancel any time during the trial and you will not be charged. Free trials are for new subscribers and one per household unless we say otherwise.

6Subscription and billing

Seed & Slumber is a recurring subscription. You choose a plan and a billing cadence:

  • Seedling: $12 per month, or $120 per year paid up front.
  • Full Bloom: $29 per month, or $290 per year paid up front.

Please read this billing detail carefully. Our "monthly" plans bill every 4 weeks, which is a 28-day cycle. Because a year is longer than twelve 28-day cycles, a monthly plan is charged 13 times per year, not 12. For example, at $12 every 4 weeks, a full year of the Seedling monthly plan comes to about $156, not $144. We disclose this on the pricing page and here so there are no surprises. If you prefer twelve-ish charges or a single yearly charge, the annual plan bills once per year.

Prices are in United States dollars and do not include any taxes that may apply. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period (every 4 weeks for monthly plans, or every year for annual plans) using your payment method on file, until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorize us and our payment processor to charge your payment method on this recurring schedule.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number on our own systems; Stripe handles that. If a charge fails, we (through Stripe) may retry it, and we may pause or cancel access if payment cannot be collected.

7Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel any time, yourself, from the account page. On the account page, use the Manage billing button to open the billing portal, where you can cancel your subscription. When you cancel, your subscription does not renew again, and you keep access until the end of the billing period you already paid for.

Our refund policy is: cancel any time; because there is a free trial that lets you try the full experience before you pay, we do not offer refunds for a billing period that has already started, and we do not offer partial-year or pro-rated refunds on annual plans. Our full Refund & Cancellation Policy covers this in plain language. Nothing here limits any rights you have under the consumer-protection laws that apply to you.

8Price changes

We may change our prices. If we change the price of a plan you are on, we will give you notice by email before the change takes effect for your subscription, so you can decide whether to continue. Continuing after the change takes effect means you accept the new price.

9Children's information

To make your child the hero of the story, you give us a small amount of information about each child: a first name or nickname, an approximate age (a rough age in months, not a birthdate), gender, and reading progress. You provide this yourself, as the parent or guardian, and only to personalize the stories and the nightly email to you. Children do not log in, we do not show children advertising, and we do not sell anyone's information. You can view, edit, or delete a child, or delete your whole account, at any time. Our Privacy Policy explains all of this in full.

10Acceptable use

The stories and the service are for your family's personal, non-commercial bedtime use. Please do not:

  • Resell, redistribute, publish, or publicly perform the stories, or share your paid access with people outside your household.
  • Copy, scrape, or use the stories or any part of the service to train or build another product or model.
  • Try to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the service.
  • Use the service to do anything unlawful, or to upload information about a child you are not the parent or guardian of.

Reading a story aloud to your own children, or printing a copy for your own family's bedtime, is exactly what the service is for and is always fine.

11Ownership of the stories

Seed & Slumber, its world (including Hush Hollow and its characters), the stories, artwork, audio, software, and brand are owned by Seed & Slumber or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. While your subscription is active, we give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to read, print, and enjoy the stories with your own family for personal, non-commercial use. That license ends if your subscription ends, except that you may keep personal copies of stories you already downloaded or printed for your own family's use. The names you provide (your child's name appearing in a story) remain yours; personalizing a story does not give us ownership of your child's name.

12Scripture and beliefs

Seed & Slumber is a Christian product written from historic, mere-Christian orthodoxy. Scripture is quoted from the English Standard Version (ESV) and kept in context. Scripture quotations are from the ESV® Bible (The Holy Bible, English Standard Version®), copyright 2001 by Crossway, a publishing ministry of Good News Publishers. Used by permission. All rights reserved. The stories are devotional and encouraging in nature. They are not a substitute for your own church, pastor, or family's discipleship, and they are not counseling or professional advice.

13Third-party services

We rely on a few trusted providers to run the service: Stripe for payments, Cloudflare for hosting and delivery, Resend for email, and Anthropic to help generate story text. These providers process limited data on our behalf so the service can work. We describe what each one handles in our Privacy Policy. Their own terms and policies also apply to their part of the service.

14Disclaimers

We work hard to make Seed & Slumber warm, accurate, and reliable, and every week is reviewed for theology and craft before it ships. Even so, the service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise that the service will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or that an email will arrive at an exact time every night. Story content is generated with the help of software and reviewed by people; while we aim for care and accuracy, we cannot guarantee it is free of every error.

15Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Seed & Slumber and Seed & Slumber will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising out of or related to your use of the service. To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or twenty United States dollars ($20). Some places do not allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

16Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Seed & Slumber and Seed & Slumber from claims and costs arising out of your misuse of the service, your breach of these terms, or your violation of someone else's rights, to the extent permitted by law.

17Termination

You can stop using the service and cancel any time (section 7). We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we stop offering the service. If we end the service entirely, we will give reasonable notice and handle any prepaid, unused time fairly.

18Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service grows or the law changes. When we make a material change, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, let you know by email or a notice on the site. If you keep using the service after a change takes effect, that means you accept the updated terms.

19Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Seed & Slumber is based in Ohio. Any dispute that is not resolved informally will be handled in the courts located in the State of Ohio, USA, unless the law that applies to you requires otherwise.

A note on this draft. This document is a good-faith starting point, not legal advice. The owner should have a qualified attorney review and finalize it, and set the effective date to the launch date, before Seed & Slumber relies on it with real customers.
